1.      Arbitration and Conciliation Act

 Arbitration is a method of alternate dispute resolution. In this, Parties decide beforehand that in case of dispute they will not go to court but rather would appoint an independent and at time a specific person as arbitrator (s) to resolve their disputes.

2.      Legal Services Authorities Act

In 1987 Legal Services Authorities Act was enacted to give a statutory base to legal aid programmes throughout the country on a uniform pattern. It happen to be an Act constituting of legal services authorities to provide free and competent legal services to the weaker sections of the society to ensure that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen by reason of economic or other disabilities, and to organise Lok Adalats to secure that the operation of the legal system promotes justice on a basis of equal opportunity.

3.      Dowry Prohibition Act

 Whatever money, jewellery etc. is given to a bride in her marriage by both her parents as well as the groom's parents is legally her property. It is known as Dowry. The Concept happens to arise due to the rise in no. of dowry deaths.If you are leaving matrimonial home for divorce, take your dowry with you.

 Most people later fight for it in courts as gold is extremely costly.

4.      Live in relationships in India

 In the recent context, such kind of relationship are not illegal and any two consenting adults have the freedom to live together without marriage if they wish to. Even there has been SC judgment that mentions the maintenance to be paid for offspring out of the relationship. Domestic violence act too takes this relationship into consideration and a woman can get relief under the act even if she is not legally wedded to the man.

In fact there is also an inclination to treat live in relationships like marriage in Indian courts if the couple have lived together for many years. [SC through a judgment]

5.      Children born out of live in relationships have a right to inherit their parent's property.

 Illegitimate children too inherit their father's property and can claim maintenance. This happen to be accepted norm.

6.      Inheritance of  ancestral property by women under Hindu law

Women do have an identical right of inheritance in ancestral property after the 2005 amendment to the Hindu Succession Act. Women can also demand partition of the property and women can also be recognised as the Karta of Joint Hindu family property now.

7.      Public display of affection

It need not be explicit, your regular kiss, or goodbye hug do not fall in this category. Therefore, public display of affection is perfectly legal. Only when it inclines towards obscenity.

Section 294 of the Indian penal code states that whoever commits obscene acts in public places will be punished for a term which may extend up to 3 months.

8.      Pornography

It is certainly  illegal and punishable only when one sells, lets to hire, distributes, publicly exhibits or in any manner puts it into circulation. To look into specific law they are Section - 292 of Indian Penal Code and Section 67 of Information Technology Act.

9.      Copyright

If you are watching an online movie by downloading it, you are certainly commiting an violation against Copyright Act.

10.  Only female officers can escort women to the police station

Not even do male officers have right to escort a woman but a woman can refuse to go to the police station between 6 pm to 6 am. In case of a very serious crime, a written order from the magistrate is required for male officers to escort her.
