In March three cultural event was organized by a NGO named Art of Living’s (AOL) near Yamuna bank.  A seven-member committee in a report submitted on Wednesday to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) said that ecological rehabilitation of the Yamuna floodplain will cost Rs42.02 crore. This is the last of several reports for determination of rehabilitation and restoration costs and the tribunal is likely to take a call on it at its next hearing on 20 April.

Spiritual figure Sri Ravi Shankar on Tuesday faulted the administration and the National Green Tribunal (NGT) for allowing his NGO Art of Living (AOL) to hold the World Culture Festival on the Yamuna stream and said that NGT and government ought to be considered liable if any ecological harm was brought about.

Sri Ravi Shankar said that AOL has obtained all necessary permission for organizing cultural event near Yamuna bank. Initially no one has objected and has given permission for the event and later on they are imposing fine for the same. If it is adversely impacted by cultural event then at permission should not be granted to AOL at initial level.

The spiritual guru said “I will fight the lies because I have done nothing to deserve this humiliation,”

"If, at all, any fine has to be levied, it should be levied on the Central and state governments and the NGT itself, for giving the permission. If the Yamuna was so fragile and pure, they should have stopped the World Culture Festival," Ravi Shankar said in a Facebook post.

“My volunteers have worked with the Delhi government in its Yamuna cleaning operation. Why would I cause damage to the river and its riverbed?” asked Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

Board has proposed that there would be two segments of restoration plan—physical and biological, and they would cost Rs28.73 crore and Rsl3.29 crore respectively, other than extra auxiliary costs.
